Two weeks into the wipe and what have the Devs been working on?

Its been two weeks since the last Rust update dropped on the server, and as normal the devs over at facepunch haven't sat back doing nothing they are still working hard on developing the game even further, so what have they been up to, lets check out the Commits and see what's been going on.


 



Nuclear Missile Silo

The latest monument that facepunch has been working on has seen a ton of activity over recent weeks and its closer to hitting our maps than it has ever been! It has recently been added to the AUX2 branch and therefore is in the testing phase, Indications point towards this being quite a large underground monument presumably with all the normal hazards that face us, such as roaming NPC's, radiation and hopefully some juicy loot piles.


As yet, the AUX 2 has not been opened up for public testing (AUX1 = staging branch) so we cant yet get to have a play with this monument but the fact it has been put onto AUX2 is promising and indicates it is closer to going live in the game, as soon as I find out anymore info or get hold of some images of the monument I will keep you updated.


 



Share that Saddle!

Yep share your horse with a friend, new double saddles are also hitting AUX2, so soon you will be able to ride doubled up on your best mount, no details if this will affect the horses speed etc. but again as soon as I find out anything I will let you know.



 

Map and Compass Improvements

Also added to the AUX2 branch have been a bunch of improvements and update relating in game maps and the in game compass. It looks like players and groups will be able to place and label extra map markers, they will also be able to mark them to alert team members to what ever it is that they are marking, not sure how the alert will show up in game, but players will be alerted to the new marker, the commits also suggest that these markers will show up on the in game compass.


With these 3 new items being placed onto the AUX2 branch I hope that the Devs are aiming to get these three new elements live for the next update, hopefully we will see them either moved over to AUX1 staging branch for us to play with, or AUX2 being opened up for players to join, and them subsequently going live on the April 6th update.



 
Attack Helicopter

Sadly we haven't seen the new player flyable Attack Helicopter added to the AUX2 branch, This is one Im particularly looking forward to, cant wait to get me some Air to Air combat, however there has still been work done on this, including the UI for gunners being added, but I hope there will be a way for solo flyers to access weapons too!


Looking closer at the commits for this the attack helicopter is going to be very similar to the Minicopter, except it'll have skis instead of wheels, will have the ability to fire rockets and probably guns.



 
Auto-wear clothing

A new feature is also being worked on that will allow players to whilst hovering over a clothing item when looting from a container with the press of a key the item will be immediately placed on your character if there are slots to wear the item, without removing other items of clothing.
